Updated: Aug 25, 2023

Are you planning to hit the road soon? Before you do, it's important to make sure that your vehicle is in tip-top shape. In fact, taking a few minutes to perform some basic safety checks can help you avoid potential accidents, downtime and ensure a smooth ride.

One of the most important safety checks you can perform is a quality walk around of your vehicle. This means taking a close look at all the key components of your tractor and trailer to ensure that everything is in good working order, check for any abnormalities, leaks and broken parts. Next, check your tires. Make sure that they're properly inflated and that the tread is in good condition. If you spot any damage, it's best to get them replaced before hitting the road.

Next, take a look at your lights. This includes your headlights, taillights, and turn signals. Check to make sure that all bulbs are working properly and that there are no cracks or damage to the lenses. It's also a good idea to check your electrical connections to ensure that everything is properly connected and secure.

In addition to these basic safety checks here, also check your brakes, engine and any other fluids and, it's always a good idea to have a proper emergency kit on hand. This should include things like a first aid kit, a flashlight, and some basic tools. You never know when an emergency might arise, so it's always best to be prepared.

By taking a few minutes to perform these safety checks, you can help ensure that you and your cargo are safe and arrive on time. Happy travels!
